Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about using LarderLore.
You can convert recipes in three ways:
- From a website link - Paste the URL of a recipe page and LarderLore will extract the recipe details for you
- From images - Upload photos of recipe cards, cookbook pages, or handwritten recipes. This works great on a phone—just take a photo with your camera and import it to convert
- From files - Upload PDFs or other document files containing recipes
All conversions use AI to intelligently extract recipe information, which you can review and edit before saving to your larder.
Shelves are collections that help you organize recipes however you like. Think of them as custom folders or categories for your recipes.
You can organize recipes by:
- Theme (e.g., "Holiday Recipes", "Quick Weeknight Dinners")
- Meal type (e.g., "Breakfast", "Desserts", "Appetizers")
- Family member (e.g., "Mom's Recipes", "Kids Love These")
- Season (e.g., "Summer BBQ", "Fall Comfort Food")
- Any other system that works for you!
A recipe can live on multiple shelves, so you can organize the same recipe in different ways.
LarderLore offers flexible sharing options:
- Share individual recipes - Send recipes to other LarderLore users by email
- Share entire shelves - Share a whole collection with another user
- Public shelf links - Create a public link to a shelf that anyone can view, even without a LarderLore account
When you share recipes or shelves with other LarderLore users, they receive a notification and can accept the share to add those recipes to their own larder. Adding shared recipes to your larder is completely free—no credits required!
LarderLore is designed for sharing recipes with family and friends—the people you actually cook with and for. To keep the platform personal and to help protect the work of recipe creators, we do have a few limits in place:
- Up to 20 public recipes shared by link
- Up to 10 public shelves shared by link
- Up to 20 recipes in each public shelf
- Up to 20 email invitations per shelf
These limits give you plenty of room to share your favorites with the people who matter most. You can always make a recipe or shelf private again to free up space. And there's no limit on receiving shared recipes or saving them to your own larder!
